How Stock Sentry monitors your inventory

What is Stock Sentry?

Stock Sentry predicts when products will run out based on sales velocity. Unlike simple low-stock alerts, it analyzes your sales patterns to give you advance warning before stockouts occur.

Quick Setup

Step 1: Install the App

  1. Click "Install" from the Shopify App Store
  2. Review permissions and click "Install app"
  3. You'll be redirected to the Stock Sentry dashboard

Step 2: Configure Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Set your alert thresholds:
  • Warning: Days to trigger early warning (default: 14)
  • Urgent: Days to trigger urgent alert (default: 7)
  1. Choose notifications:
  • Email: Receive alerts via email
  • Dashboard: See alerts in Stock Sentry

Step 3: Review Alerts

Within minutes, you'll see:

  • Products at risk of stockout
  • Predicted days until stockout
  • Alert severity (Warning, Urgent, Critical)

Understanding Your Dashboard

Each alert shows:

  • Product name and variant
  • Current inventory (units in stock)
  • Days remaining (predicted stockout)
  • Daily velocity (average units sold/day)
  • Severity (Warning/Urgent/Critical)

Use filters to show urgent alerts, filter by type, or sort by days remaining.

What Happens Next?

Stock Sentry will:

  • Monitor inventory 24/7
  • Update predictions daily
  • Send notifications at thresholds
  • Learn seasonal patterns for accuracy
